After a successful launch last year, the Restyle project is back and ready to inspire with the help of seven Perth fashion bloggers. Jocelyn Leong and Jacquelyn Chong of fashiontwopointone.com will join Hannah McAll of inthedressupbox.blogspot.com and others to reinterpret 31 style prompts, from glitter and neutrals to animal print and fringe.
It’s all in the name of charity, with the project highlighting the incredible work Australian Red Cross, RSPCA, Good Samaritan Industries, St Vincent De Paul, The Salvation Army, Save the Children and Anglicare do for our community.
Jocelyn and Jacquelyn say the promotion of second-hand clothing through the seven different blogs will hopefully encourage more people to support a worthy cause.
“We will explain through our daily posts the benefits of op-shopping and how one’s money and donation of items can go a long way in helping society,” the bloggers say of their commitment to Restyle.
“We hope our journey over the next one month will not only inspire ourselves but many others and especially those who have a certain stigma about op-shopping.”
The ladies, who admit that they’re not regular op-shoppers, have always been keen to discover the thrills and joy of picking up a fantastic bargain.
“The idea is very refreshing as we all know fashion come in cycles and certain styles will always make a comeback, albeit with some improvisation and new twists on what is defined as classic,” Jacquelyn says.
“I think we will do pretty well as we have found some #amazing# pieces that just nail the brief completely,” comments Jocelyn.
“It will be interesting to see us in colours and prints for a change! We will also be taking pair shots for certain prompts so there will be some ‘fashion twin’ moments happening.”
According to self-proclaimed ‘mad’ op-shopper and blogger Hannah McAll, op-shopping is the perfect way to restyle for less.
“Restyling second hand pieces is an awesome way to avoid looking like anyone else (my biggest fear) plus it’s a sustainable way to indulge in my greatest weakness (shopping),” Hannah explains.
“I’ve been op-shopping exclusively at Australian Red Cross stores for Restyle and have been #so# lucky with the things I’ve found.
“My favourite stores have been Red Cross Duncraig for vintage and Red Cross Bentley for super low prices (I bought a 100 per cent wool kilt for $2!).”
The inthedressupbox.blogspot.com writer says she predominately wears thrifted clothes so she was delighted to be chosen as an official blogger for Restyle.
