Perth International Jazz Festival turns up the volume with new block party
To celebrate its 2025 program finale, Perth International Jazz Festival (PIJF) has announced its brand-new PIJF Block Party event, set to hit Urban Orchard in the Perth Cultural Centre on Saturday, November 1.
The open-air festival will celebrate jazz and its modern influences, with a multi-headline showcase of genre-bending artists set to hit the stage with a mix of supporting artists.
“This festival-style bill is a fresh new concept for PIJF,” said Festival Director Dr Mace Francis. “It reflects our mission to evolve how people experience jazz by embracing the diversity of styles it influences, from funk and soul to pop and hip hop.”
Leading the lineup is American funk icons Lettuce, known for their electrifying live shows and decades of groove-driven sounds, and ARIA Award-winning pop sensation Budjerah, whose fresh, soulful vocals and contemporary sound have captured audiences across the world. Also set to hit the stage is Naarm-based contemporary soul artist Bumpy, Perth hip-hop force Zero Emcee, Perth-based jazz and hip-hop collective Pareidolia and Dutch DJ and producer DJ Maestro.
“Each act was hand-picked to show how jazz can evolve and influence other styles,” Francis explained. “They all reflect the freedom, fun and diversity at the heart of jazz.”
The Urban Orchard will also be transformed into an open-air festival precinct, with attendees able to expect pop-up bars, cocktails, spritz stations, and curated food stalls showcasing fresh WA produce on the night.
“This is not just a concert. It’s an experience,” said Francis. “One where jazz meets the streets and celebrates its evolution through funk, soul, pop and hip-hop. The PIJF Block Party is about connection, movement, and discovering the joy of jazz in all its forms in a communal, festive environment.”
