Local hero Tame Impala wins first ever solo Grammy
Western Australian psychedelic act Tame Impala, a.k.a. Kevin Parker, has nabbed his second consecutive Grammy at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in what was Australia’s only trophy of the night. The Perth-based musician took home his first ever solo Grammy for End of Summer, which won the category of Best Dance/Electronic Recording.
The track, which runs for over seven minutes, was the first single from Parker’s latest album, Deadbeat. Released in October 2025, the record debuted at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and ranked #3 on X-Press Magazine’s Top 25 Albums of 2025.
Parker won the award over several other high-profile contenders who were nominated in the category, including Disclosure, Anderson .Paak, Fred again.., Skepta, Kaytranada and Skrillex.
Following four nominations, Kevin Parker won his first Grammy last year in the same category for Neverender, which he created with French dance duo Justice.
Being one of the Fremantle Dockers’ most famous and loyal fans, the Dockers took to social media to congratulate the local artist on his emphatic win. “Massive shout to our talented no.1 ticket holder Tame Impala on his winning his first solo Grammy,” the post was captioned, with Parker standing alongside dual Brownlow medalist Nat Fyfe.
