Interflow are living the single life
High-energy rock five-piece Interflow are set to release their first new music of 2026, with their newest single, Dirty Money, released on Monday, February 9. To celebrate the new release, the band is hosting a single launch at Buffalo Club on Friday, February 13, with special support from Don’t Tell Daisy and Emu Magic, and tickets on sale now. BOB GORDON chatted with guitarist Will Gibbs about the new single, the recording process and the band’s plans for 2026.
Following a busy 2025 marked by a slew of single releases, Interflow have stormed into the New Year in much the same vein, with another new song release, Dirty Money.
“It’s a pretty groovy Stones-but-heavier rock ‘n’ roll tune, with some fun guitar work and a driving drum and bass rhythm,” says guitarist Will Gibbs. “Charlie Pascoe on drums and Fin Dores-Henderson on bass lock in hard on this one. This was another song that came about from a riff that Fin and I had, and then we jammed out the rest of the song with the band the same afternoon. Jacob Willis-Fulford and I collaborated on the lyrics, which, in essence, don’t really have any deep meaning, but they kind of paint a picture of a character similar to Ace Rothstein in Casino. It’s just a fun tune for us.”
Dirty Money was recorded in the same sessions as Interflow’s previous single, Unemployed Hours, between Sundown and Emerald Room Studios. The band recorded live together, then overdubbed vocals and extra guitars.
“We took a bit more time fleshing out individual parts on this track,” Gibbs explains, “so although it’s a straight-ahead rock tune, if you listen closely, there’s plenty of interplay between the two guitars, the bass and drums, and the lead and backing vocals. I’m pretty sure the choruses have both me and Jacob singing together in some parts.”
Interflow have been releasing singles consistently for the last twelve months and plan to issue up to three more in 2026 (along with lots of new merch). It requires a fair bit of focus but is working in terms of raising the band’s profile and awareness.
“It certainly keeps the band busy!” says Will. “We’ve found consistently that rolling out a single every few months has improved our audience and relevance in the local scene. We’ll take any excuse to put on a gig, and a single release is a great reason to have a bit of a bigger one, so it’s great to have that opportunity every few months now.
“Additionally, we’ve found the tunes have performed better on streaming services since we’ve been doing it this way. Some algorithmic nonsense beyond my pay grade is going on there, I’m sure!”
Meanwhile, as ever, there are the band’s love shows. Quite simply, they’re always up for it, and as well as local gigs, they are keen to tour around WA this year.
“If I’m allowed to blow my own horn, we’re a damn tight rock ‘n’ roll band,” Gibbs says. “The live show keeps evolving, but we’ve settled in on a great rotation of tunes—with a few covers in there—along with plenty of Tim Rogers-inspired stage moves!”
Interflow’s new single, Dirty Money, will be launched at Buffalo Club on Friday, February 13, 2026. Tickets are on sale now from oztix.com
