Heart and Soul of the Hills: Live music event Hillstock to raise funds for Kalamunda Community Radio

Local musicians are coming together to raise funds for Kalamunda Community Radio as Hillstock takes over The Kalamunda Club on Saturday, May 11.

Headlined by the electrifying Matty T Wall (pictured above), a total of six acts will perform on the night, including Whiskey Jack, Clare Perrott, Clandestine, Brandon Poletti and Olive Mae. Four of the six artists are Hills-based.

“When we put the call out for this event, the local community was only happy to support us,” said Mark Phillips, presenter of The Mixtape show and a Sponsorship Consultant for Kalamunda Community Radio. “KCR also supports local musicians, with shows like The Mixtape, Folk and Stuff, Hits with Hayls and Noonday Carousel all heavily featuring local musicians, writers and artists.”

“The purpose of the event is to raise funds and raise the profile of the station in the wider Perth music community,” he added. “KCR uses the tagline ‘Heart and Soul of the Hills’. “We have been broadcasting since 1997, and we have a very loyal listenership. I feel Kalamunda and the Hills area in general have a particularly strong sense of community; KCR is very much seen as ‘our’ station by the community.”

Punters can look forward to a night “choc full of folk, country roots, and blues—something for everyone to enjoy,” said Phillips. “On the night, we’ll have Hillstock event merch and band merch for sale, a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, plus $9 pints and $2.50 pizza slices. KCR will also be live broadcasting the event.”
