GUM and Ambrose Kenny-Smith hit the road for first ever national tour
Aussie multi-instrumentalists and singers GUM (Jay Watson of Pond, Tame Impala) and Ambrose Kenny-Smith (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, The Murlocs) have announced the release of a deluxe edition of their acclaimed collaborative album Ill Times, alongside news of a national tour.
For the first time ever, the pair will hit the stage together in a series of collaborative shows, playing Freo.Social on Friday, April 4, before hitting Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
The pair’s collaborative deluxe album, Ill Times, is set for release on Friday, March 28, via p(doom) records. Available on both vinyl and digital platforms, this expanded edition features four brand-new bonus tracks, offering fans a deeper dive into the duo’s soulful, groove-driven world.
The first of the new tracks, Telescope, is out now, accompanied by an official visualiser. Check it out below.
“Telescope started out as not much more than a percussion-heavy groove, including my studio table leg as a cowbell, and a helium-pitched vocal harmony, and ended up as one of my favourite songs we’ve done together, sort of soul and rock and orchestral soundtrack music all together,” Watson said. “I was excited to explore stuff our other bands hadn’t really touched on before. Funk, soul, groove-based music.”
GUM and Ambrose Kenny-Smith will play Freo.Social on Friday, April 4, 2025. Tickets are on sale now from bandsintown.com Ill Times (Deluxe Edition) is out on Friday, March 28, from pdoomrecords.com
