Following the election re-run in WA, we asked all five candidates who won a seat – and also Louise Pratt and Linda Reynolds who maybe possibly perhaps bagged a Senate spot – to make us a mix-tape. We asked: If you were stuck on desert island with the other WA senators, what five songs would you want with you and why? Here’s what Greens senator Scott Ludlam got back to us with.
1. Talking Heads – Once In A Lifetime
To get everyone off on the right foot.
2. Rage Against The Machine – Killing In The Name
‘Cos I won’t do what ya tell me.
3. Massive Attack – Inertia Creeps
[Editor’s note: Ludlam didn’t tell us why he picked this song so make of it what you will.]
4. GANGgajang – Sounds Of Then
[Ludlam also didn’t tell us why he loved this tune. It is a ‘straylan classic though and This Is Australia.]
5. Nine Inch Nails – Copy of A
So we can dance.
