FolkWorld and Little Folk join forces for charity fundraiser

FolkWorld has announced a new partnership with Little Folk, a Perth-based children’s cancer charity, to host their first joint fundraiser event.

Taking place at the Claremont Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday, September 7, the fundraiser will feature performances by The Rust Buckets and Ashlea Reale with her musical partner, New York Slim, who have both volunteered their time for the cause.

The Rust Buckets, a recently formed group of seasoned musicians Rod Vervest, Peter Grayling, Dave Clarke and Bill Lawrie, promise a diverse setlist that spans early blues, jugband, hokum and swing tunes.

Meanwhile, Ashlea Reale and New York Slim are set to launch their second album, Across the Sea, at the event. Their collaboration brings together Reale’s Australian folk influences and Slim’s American blues guitar work, offering a unique blend of musical styles.

“This collaboration with Little Folk is a significant boost for FolkWorld, as we’ve been seeking help like this for months to facilitate fundraising and unite our festival community,” said FolkWorld President Jane Aberdeen. “We are thrilled to organise folk music events to raise funds for both of our grass-roots charitable organisations.”

The funds raised will help FolkWorld pay off outstanding debts from the unfortunate cancellation of their 2024 festival due to low ticket sales, and build a financial reserve for future events. There is even hope of returning to the Fairbridge Village for smaller-scale festivals.

The Claremont Lawn Tennis Club is known for its support for non-profit initiatives and will host the event at its iconic clubhouse. With only 100 tickets available, attendees are encouraged to get in fast to secure their spot.

FolkWorld and Little Folk’s joint fundraiser event will hit Claremont Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday, September 7, 2024. For more info and to buy tickets, head to fairbridgefestival.com.au
