Tommi Flamenco presents: Weather Report

August 20 @ 18:00 - 21:00

Doors 6pm
Show 7pm

Founded during a pivotal moment in music history when jazz began taking heavy influence from rock, funk and the free jazz movement alongside the inclusion of electronic instruments and a friendship that would begin between two titans musicians in the Maynard Fergusson Big Band circa 1959. This is Weather Report.

Co led by Zoe Zawinul and Wayne shorter, the band would go on to record and release 14 studio albums and 3 live albums of which 8:30 would win the Grammy for Best Jazz Fusion, Vocal or Instrumental in 1979. Their earlier albums focused on conceptional explorations reminiscent of the free jazz movement from the early 70’s with tracks like ‘Orange Lady’ – Weather Report (1971) and ‘Scarlet Woman’ – Mysterious Traveller (1974) to funk and rock orientated tracks ‘Teen Town’ and ‘Birdland’ – Heavy Weather and ‘Port of Entry’ – Night Passage (1980). Their catalogue of music is nothing short of engaging with creative and relentless twists and turns that make for a memorable and remarkable listening experience.

For this special evening, Tommi Flamenco and band will take you through the history of Weather Report’s compositions from various personnel and sidemen whilst demonstrating the band’s own individual musical voices and invigorating improvisational perspectives.

So grab you’re tickets to secure your seat for what is guaranteed to be an enthralling show!
