Timothy Nelson is a multi-award-winning songwriter and artist from WA, who’s career so far has already entailed a prolific, eclectic output with many bands and solo projects, such as Timothy Nelson & The Infidels, The Kill Devil Hills, Indoor Fins and High Horse, through to co-writing and collaborating with artists such as Siobhan Cotchin, and Drapht. His acclaimed 2016 solo album “Words Like Young” is finally being followed up with Debaser Tapes – an album of songs produced with Andy Lawson at his Debaser studio over the past five years.
Recently, Nelson gave us a taste of the new release with the nostalgic Greenmount Hill, and now, he’s back with another single – the 70s folk-tinged Hold Your Hair. Short and sweet, the song is a snapshot in time, chronicling a hazy trip through the late night haunts of East Nashville.
From euphoric vocal harmonies over cloudy mellotron, to its penultimate guitar solo, Nelson describes the song as “playing out like a kind of fever dream.” Which, ending abruptly with a finger click, the listener “literally snaps out”, almost as soon as it started.
