Dynamic duo bring a triple treat of magic to Fringe World

Internationally-acclaimed Aussie magic duo, Sam and Justin, are returning to Fringe World in 2025 with a triple treat of three spectacular shows. Teaming up with Perth’s Magnus Danger Magnus, they’ll be dazzling audiences with Adults Only Magic Show at Big Top at The Pleasure Garden, The Greatest Magic Show at Lotterywest De Parel Spiegeltent at The Pleasure Garden, and CIRCUS The Show at The Rechabite. LIAM SHOTTLE caught up with Sam to find out what tricks he has up his sleeve this summer.

Your shows include all kinds of magic, tricks and stunts. What is your favourite part of the show to perform on stage?

Our favourite part of the show has to be whenever a volunteer is brought on stage because you never know what’s going to happen! Children and inebriated adults share a lot of similarities in that regard, and you can tell pretty quickly if you’ve picked someone who’s going to be a bit of a loose cannon. But that’s where the best memories and comedy come from, and it’s what makes each show a genuinely unique experience.

What kind of things will we see at the Adults Only Magic Show that we wouldn’t see in the other shows?

The Adults Only Magic Show came about because Justin and I wanted an outlet from the family shows we were performing at festivals almost daily, and more importantly, we wanted a show with no limits. That’s exactly what you get. We wanted to let loose and have a rowdy night with every single audience member while presenting some of the best magic in the business. The audience can be as much or as little a part of the show as they want, and it’s the relaxed yet riotous nature of the show that makes each night feel different.

Think daring and cheeky magic with an edge—as much about the laughs as it is about the impossible effects. This is definitely not your average magic show. Let’s just leave it at that.

What can you tell us about Magnus Danger Magnus, the new addition to your team?

Magnus is undoubtedly one of the most incredible talents we’ve ever had the chance to work with. He’s based in Perth, and we met back in 2021 when we were looking to cast someone for the role of Ringmaster in our family shows. I’ll never forget the message I got from Magnus—all he said was, “One look at my moustache, and I think you’ll know I’m the man for the job!”

He has more charisma and energy than I ever thought possible for one person to possess, and we don’t think we’re exaggerating at all when we say he’s truly one of the best MCs in the world. He’s the Ringmaster in CIRCUS and The Greatest Magic Show, the mad scientist in KABOOM, and the unapologetic host of the Adults Only Magic Show. He’s an absolute joy to watch in action.

Magnus Danger Magnus will be joining Sam and Justin at Fringe this summer.

You’re also running CIRCUS at Fringe this summer! Beyond the magic, who and what else will be in the Big Top?

That’s absolutely correct; we’re bringing four incredible productions to Fringe, including our first-ever performance at The Rechabite Hall with CIRCUS The Show!

CIRCUS is family-focused and carries an important message for kids: embrace your weirdness and pursue what you love, no matter if people think it’s strange or without merit. Do what you’re passionate about and stop at nothing to make your dreams a reality!

The show features five sensational performers and blends the traditional circus elements with a modern twist. We’ve captured all the classic archetypes of a circus, but with a contemporary approach in production and presentation, designed to captivate our younger audience members.

The cast includes a magician, myself, a Ringmaster, Magnus Danger Magnus, a friendly and loveable clown, Nathan Green, a juggler, Richard Sullivan, and acrobatics, hula hoops, and aerial by the lovely Hanne Helsden. Together, we pull off this phenomenally action-packed show.

It was always important to us to treat our kids and family shows with the same level of care and investment as our adult shows, particularly in terms of lighting, production, sound, costumes, and props. And I humbly believe you’d be hard-pressed to find a kids’ show with more bang for its buck!

What’s next after Fringe? Any new shows or performances we can look out for?

After Perth, we’ll head straight to Adelaide for another month-long season with all four of our shows before travelling on to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Edinburgh later in the year!

We always have ideas brewing in the background, and we’re excited to share that we have two new family shows we hope to launch in late 2025 or early 2026. So, definitely stay tuned for that!
