Custard announce ’90s revivalist double album’ and national tour

Brisbane indie rockers Custard have just announced a national tour in celebration of their ’90s revivalist double album’, Suburban Curtains. The 14-date tour includes WA shows at Milk Bar in Inglewood on Friday, December 6, and Mojos Bar in Fremantle on Saturday, December 7.

Joining Custard as special guests for both shows, The Fauves will be treating fans to new music from their 13th studio album, Tropical Strength, set for release in November.

Custard, also known as Custaro, produced five full-length albums before officially disbanding in 2000. The four-piece won fans across the country in the 90s with indie anthems like Apartment (1995), and Girls Like That (Don’t Go For Guys Like Us) (1998). This week the band released their new single Molecules Colliding, a taste of their upcoming album, which comes out on Friday, October 11.

“This is a love song,” said the band of the new single. “Three enigmatic verses and an equivocating bridge encapsulate a lengthy human relationship. Luckily, the chorus is empowering in its embrace of contrasts of scale and recognition of the echoes and repetition within physics and humanity. The finale is open-ended, lyrically anticipatory, and musically truncated. A study in contradiction and reflection.”

Custard’s new album, Suburban Curtains, is out on Friday, October 11, and available to pre-order now. Custard play Milk Bar on Friday, December 6, and Mojos Bar on Saturday, December 7, 2024. For more info and to buy tickets, head to consume.com.au
