Come From Away brings a story of hope and human kindness to Koorliny Arts Centre

Following a celebrated season in 2024, the internationally acclaimed musical Come From Away is set to return to Koorliny Arts Centre for a special encore season, running from Friday, September 11, to Saturday, September 19.

Marking the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Come From Away‘s return to the stage offers audiences another chance to experience the remarkable true story that unfolded in the aftermath of 9/11.

Directed by Katherine Freind and Allen BlachfordCome From Away follows 7,000 airline passengers who were unexpectedly stranded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, after North American airspace was closed. In a story of hope, compassion and human connection, the people of Gander welcomed the strangers with kindness.

Featuring an uplifting folk and rock-inspired score by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, the musical has captivated audiences globally with its humour, heart and unforgettable storytelling.

Come From Away has won four Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical and the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical. The production also won the Robert Finley Award for Best Musical at the 49th annual theatre awards presented by the Independent Theatre Association (ITA) in Western Australia in 2024.
