Cog bring vinyl re-issue tour to the west coast

Australian rockers Cog are making a long-awaited return to the west coast this year.

Following a successful east coast tour earlier this year, the band have just announced the continuation of The Vinyl Tour, with new dates scheduled for Victoria, New South Wales, and Western Australia this October and November.

“After the success of the initial shows early in the year, we are stoked to add seven more shows to The Vinyl Tour Continued!” said the band upon announcing the news.

The Vinyl Tour Continued hits Prince of Wales, Bunbury, on Thursday, October 31; Settlers Tavern, Margaret River, on Friday, November 1; and Freo.Social on Saturday, November 2. Experimental rock trio Yomi Ship will join Cog for all three dates, with prog metal act Primrose Path also joining the support line-up for the Fremantle show.

The Vinyl Tour Continued will also celebrate Cog’s long-awaited release of their seminal albums The New Normal (2005) and Sharing Space (2008) on vinyl, as well as the first pressing of their compilation record, Just Visiting (2008).

Emerging in the late ’90s, Cog emerged on the heavy music landscape through their early EPs Pseudo (2000) and parts one and two of Just Visiting (2002), before making their epic full-length debut with The New Normal in 2005. From there, Cog went on to tour internationally and grace stages at Big Day Out, Falls Festival, Homebake and more.

After a five-year hiatus, Cog returned in 2016 with a sold-out tour and went on to release their first new material in a decade with the 2018 single The Middle. In the same year, Cog released their singles Altered States and Drawn Together, with the trio also staying active on the touring circuit through headlining events such as The Other Festival and Thrashville in 2023.

Cog’s long road to finally releasing their albums on vinyl spanned a 15-year uphill battle, with the group locked into a contract and awaiting resolution ever since delivering Sharing Space to their label. Now armed with complete ownership of the rights to all of their music, the pressing of Cog’s discography onto vinyl also sparked a huge headline run earlier this year, with the trio’s first run of The Vinyl Tour hitting the east coast in March.

Cog’s The Vinyl Tour Continued hits Prince of Wales on Thursday, October 31; Settlers Tavern on Friday, November 1; and Freo.Social on Saturday, November 2, 2024. For more info and to buy tickets, head to linktr.ee/cog101 To order vinyl copies of Cog’s reissued records, head to rarerecords.com.au
