ARIA Hall of Fame members and Australian legends, The Church, are currently putting the finishing touches to their 25th studio album. To celebrate, the Sydney psych-rockers are back with a brand new single, Another Century. Check it out below.
The new album is set to follow up 2014’s Further/Deeper, which was their first to feature new guitarist and former Powderfinger member Ian Haug. He replaced founding guitarist Marty Willson-Piper in 2013 over royalty disputes.
The past several years have been wildly successful for the band with performances at Primavera Sound, SXSW, three North American tours and their first European tour in almost a decade.
“Another Century is a romantic melodic stab of omnichord and guitars and quite unlike any past The Church song,” singer and bassist Steve Kilbey remarked. “The lyrics fell out of the sky very quickly and the music is dreamy and evocative of past futures.”
Recorded at Rancom St and Spacejunk III; the track was written by The Church (Kilbey, Koppes, Powles, Haug) and produced by the band along with Ted Howard.
Another Century is out now. Full details about the new album and touring plans will be announced shortly.
