Taking place at the North Fremantle Bowls Club on Sunday, November 30, The Christmas Festival Of Giving sees The Morning Night, Brendan Gaspari, Knyght, The Daniel Furkin Trio, Penny Lanes Music Workshop and Jill Birt and Allsy McDonald (late of, lest we forget, The Triffids) come together to raise money for the Centre For Cerebral Palsy. TRAVIS JOHNSON checks in with The Morning Night guitarist, Michael Baglioni.
What’s your role here?
I ‘m the team leader for the Centre For Cerebral Palsy’s Opportunities program at Panama Studio. I am also the curator of The Christmas Festival Of Giving.
Tell us about the festival.
The Christmas Festival Of Giving is fundraising event created to raise money for the good people of the Opportunities program at the Centre For Cerebral Palsy (Panama Studio). The funds raised will be going to towards giving our clientele the Christmas they truly deserve.
How did the line-up come together?
I was able to curate the line-up very easily. I am the lead guitarist in the headline act, The Morning Night, so I was able to get us on the line-up easily. I was put through to The Daniel Furkin Trio via my cousin, who has been a guest vocalist for them in the past. They were extremely keen to jump on board for such a wonderful cause.
Knyght are a new Perth based band. I’ve had the privilege of playing in a band formerly known as Warning Birds with the two frontmen of Knyght, Sam Carmody and Bensen Thomas, who I can now say are good friends of mine.
Jill Birt and Alsy Macdonald are members of the internationally renowned Perth band, The Triffids. I am lucky enough to be an acquaintance of both of them through my band, The Morning Night, and being the generous people they are, they were keen to jump on board.
Brendan Gaspari is an ex-member of The Morning Night and sadly left the band to focus on a solo career. He is making strong headways into the music industry and is an incredibly talented musician. He was incredibly keen to jump on board for the cause also.
Saving the best for last, Richard Lane’s (The Stems) music school Penny Lanes has gladly donated their time and effort to put on a concert for us during the day. Richard has been a huge help in making this event possible and I feel extremely privileged to have a music school as good as this to play on the line-up.
What else can punters expect on the day?
There will be plenty of activities on the day for all ages, such as sausage sizzles, stalls, silent auction, raffle, live music, Christmas games, kids’ activities, a bowling green, bar, food van, art exhibition and plenty more.

Special thanks to Jack Bromell for creating the artwork for the event. Jack, amongst other Perth artists – including some of our very own from the Centre for Cerebral Palsy – will be displaying their art for sale at the event.
