Based on a Cecelia Ahern bestseller, Love, Rosie delivers all the heart-string tugging, gentle humour and scenic Irish landscapes you could hope for (its immediate predecessor was PS: I Love You). In the vein of One Day, the film traces the not-quite romance of Alex and Rosie, “platonic friends” who valued their friendship too much to take each other to prom. After Rosie falls pregnant (to the prom date, no less), their plans to study in America together are halted – and while Alex finds himself in a rapid upward spiral through Yale sorority parties and medical practice, Rosie’s dealing with low-level jobs and making ends meet. Across the film’s 12-year timespan, there’s quite a few crossed paths, misguided marriages and appropriately horrible exes. Love, Rosie‘s in cinemas from Thursday, November 6.
