Kim Salmon takes latest project Smoked Salmon on the road for national tour
Perth rock singer Kim Salmon, legendary co-founder of The Scientists and Beasts of Bourbon, is touring his latest project, Smoked Salmon, for their How Did They Ever Manage Tour. The tour will feature multiple performances across various cities with each show presenting unique line-ups, and will hit Perth’s Lyric’s Underground on Saturday, November 2, followed by a free show at Fremantle Arts Centre on Sunday, November 3.
Additionally, Salmon will host Live Podcast – In Conversation with Kim Salmon at Hybrid Warehouse on Saturday, November 2, prior to the live performance at Lyric’s. At the intimate event, attendees will not only hear Salmon discuss his artistic journey and the evolution of his music but will also have the chance to enjoy drinks at The Kombi Ute Bar before and after the show. Only 100 tickets are available for purchase.
The Smoked Salmon tour coincides with the release of the single How Did They Ever Manage, which recently debuted at #1 on the AIR 100% Independent Singles chart. The track is a standout from an upcoming album and has already garnered acclaim for its gritty grunge-pop sound.
Hailing from the semi-industrial outskirts of 1950s Perth, Kim Salmon has built an impressive career that spans nearly five decades. His journey began in the late 1970s with the Cheap Nasties, before he co-founded The Scientists, celebrated for their innovative blend of punk, rock and blues. Salmon further cemented his reputation in the Australian rock scene with the Beasts of Bourbon, known for their raw, powerful sound. Later, he ventured into new artistic territory with The Surrealists, showcasing his versatility and commitment to pushing musical boundaries. The latter three bands have experienced significant revivals and tours in recent years.
Known as ‘The Godfather of Grunge’, he is cited as a seminal influence on countless bands including Mudhoney, Nirvana and Sonic Youth. With Smoked Salmon, he continues to blend the old with the new, bringing fresh sounds while honoring his extensive musical legacy.
