Bogan Shakespeare bring star-crossed laughter to regional WA with Romeo Juliet
The award-winning team behind one of Perth’s longest-running and most successful Fringe World shows is hitting the road.
In partnership with Circuitwest, Bogan Shakespeare will bring their satirical retelling of Romeo & Juliet to 17 locations across the state throughout July and August.
“We are thrilled to deliver the show all across WA,” said creator, writer, and performer Dean Lovatt. “We’ve been working towards this for the last few years by building relationships with remote venues and arts orgs and undertaking short, sporadic tours throughout the year.”
“It is my hope that, as a WA-based artist, I can give as much back to the state that has given so much to me. We love doing this show, and we hope new audiences will love watching it.”’
Bogan Shakespeare offer a satirical take on Shakespeare’s timeless classics, making them accessible to all audiences by posing the intriguing question: what if ‘The Bard of Avon’ was born in contemporary WA?
This production of Romeo & Juliet tells the tale of two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Ellenbrook. One is a Dockers family, the other an Eagles family, on the eve of the fabled finals derby.
