Joe Caddy releases debut solo album Learning to Tell the Truth
A familiar face in Perth's music scene as the frontman of Figurehead, Joe Caddy, is set to release his debut solo album Learning to Tell the Truth this month. The album, a culmination of a year's worth of work, showcases Caddy's distinctive sound, blending soulful vocals, rich string arrangements, and infectious melodies.
Supporting the release of Learning to Tell the Truth, Caddy is set to perform the album in its entirety at the Indian Ocean Hotel in Scarborough on Friday, May 17 with support from Anna Dabbs, Ricky Neil Junior and Raymondouu.
Having honed his craft at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Joe joined forces with his brother Danny Caddy (of Psychedelic Porn Crumpets), Luke Parish (of PPC and People Taking Pictures), and esteemed jazz musician and producer Brodie Stewart to bring this project to life.
The album follows four successful single releases by Caddy in the past six months, including Blue, Something Beautiful, Knight and Freedom Song.

Recorded in the Kalamunda hills, Learning to Tell the Truth captures the essence of Caddy's musical evolution, with personal touches such as recordings on a beloved family piano adding depth to the album's narrative.
In addition to his musical talents, Caddy showcases his artistic vision through original paintings adorning the album's artwork and hand-drawn animations featured in his music videos.
“This album tackles themes of romance and longing, drawn from personal experience and the ruminations of my heart,” said Caddy. “The album launch party will take place at the esteemed Indian Ocean Hotel, two days before my birthday. With a diverse and dynamic line-up of support acts, I will be playing the album in its entirety, with a few other musical treats in the mix—as well as a live string arrangement!”
