Jazz in the Square series brings free Friday jazz to heart of the city

Perth’s top jazz vocalists, musicians, dancers, and performers have come together every Friday this month for a series of open-air music events in the heart of the city.

There are now just two more chances to get your toes tapping to the free Friday live jazz shows, as they take over Yagan Square Amphitheare on Friday, October 20 and Friday, October 27. 

The Jazz in the Square series continues this week with an encore performance of the Fringe World hit – Spectacular, Spectacular!  The two-hour family friendly concert requires no bookings and kicks off at 6.30pm. As prohibition-era cabaret meets showgirl glam, the concert will feature a nine-piece jazz band and a cast of beloved singers, dancers, and drag queens.

Next week, Swingin’ at the Savoy will take audiences on a journey through the untold stories of swing era legends like Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway, and Louis Armstrong who shaped the history of music. Accompanied by energetic swing dancers, The Stories of Swing promises exceptional music and gripping tales that will leave you cheering for more.

A variety of food offerings and soft drinks will be available for purchase from local Yagan restaurants, and picnics are welcome (no alcohol, please). Grab a cushion or rug to claim your spot!
