STRINGS ATTACHED Announce youth scholarship program

Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival
is returning to Margaret River this spring, taking over the South West town from Friday, October 7 until Sunday, October 9.

The one-of-a-kind event attracts guitar players, makers and enthusiasts from around the state, with the full festival program boasting over 70 artists giving performances, masterclasses, workshops and panel discussions across nine venues in Margaret River, celebrating all things guitar.

Aimed at inspiring and encouraging the next generation of musicians and music-lovers, the Festival’s Youth Program, announced this week, is 100% free for under 25s in order to encourage participation and make the range of career pathways, personal development opportunities and fun-filled events as accessible as possible. Workshops on offer exclusively to U25’s range from songwriting to starting a band and getting gigs, jamming and more.

In addition, The West Australian Guitar Festival Inc. is offering two Youth Scholarships in 2022; one to a young local guitarist, and one to a young local who is interested or currently working in the arts, ranging from events management to sound engineering, lutherie to artist management and beyond. Winners of these Scholarships will receive a mentoring session with a professional in their chosen field, along with a Weekend Pass to check out all the other paid events at the 2022 Festival.
