IRON MAIDEN Bringing back the beast

Making good on their hints at an Australian tour last week, heavy metal giants Iron Maiden are bringing their biggest, most spectacular production to date here next May. Their Legacy of the Beast World Tour kicks off at RAC Arena on Friday, May 1 and better still, they’ll be joined by Massachusetts metalcore maniacs Killswitch Engage.

Legacy Of The Beast is being hailed as the most extravagant and visually spectacular live show of the band’s career. The decades-spanning set-list of fan favourites and hits has garnered career best reviews around the world. The band has visited 39 countries since the tour opened last year, playing to close to two million fans.

Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson said the band were delighted to return to Australia for the first time in four years and excited to be bringing this show in particular. “We’ve got all kinds of crazy things going on, including a replica Spitfire plane dominating the stage during Aces High, tons of pyro, a giant Icarus, muskets, claymores and some truly marvellous flame-throwers which I have a hell of a lot of fun with, as you will see!”

Steve Harris, bassist and founding member adds, “We feel we ended up with a very strong and well balanced set mixing songs we haven’t played in many years like Flight Of Icarus, Sign Of The Cross and The Clansman with songs we know the fans want to hear like The Trooper, 2 Minutes To Midnight, The Number Of The Beast, Fear Of The Dark, Run To The Hills, Hallowed Be Thy Name and others.”

Multiple Grammy Award nominated Killswitch Engage have pioneered a union of thrashed-out guitar pyrotechnics, East Coast hardcore spirit, on-stage hijinks, and enlightened lyricism since forming in 1999.  The group has garnered three consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, and their total streams have exceeded half-a-billion to date, making them an exciting prospect in their own right.

Iron Maiden are bringing their Legacy of the Beast World Tour to RAC Arena on Friday, May 1, supported by Killswitch Engage. Tickets on sale on Thursday, November 14 from www.ticketek.com.au.
