EVENT GUIDE TOP 5 Jam-packed

This week is an amazing one for touring acts, both Aussie and international alike. Whether you’re into the sweet tones of indie or heavier rock sounds, Perth proves yet again that it is always here to provide. This week’s top 5 come from our Event Guide which our team are always adding to, event-wise and venue-wise. If there’s something you think we should include that we haven’t already, email us at guide@xpressmag.com.au.

1. Australian Tattoo Expo

The Australian Tattoo Expo hits Perth this weekend at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Proudly presented by Australian Tattoo Events, the biggest tattoo event in the country is bringing the most talented local and international tattoo artists together under one roof to showcase their work.

2. Unknown Mortal Orchestra

Far from the orchestra you might expect, UMO are on the road for their new release Sex and Food and will be making a stop at Badlands Bar on Tuesday night to bless us with their psychedelic glory. Believe the hype with this one.

3. Angie McMahon

Off the back of a colossal tour supporting Angus & Julia Stone around the world, Angie is making her way through the nation as a headliner. She hits the stage at the Rosemount tomorrow night with Leif Vollebekk and Helen Shanahan in tow.

4. Custard

Proving the 90s revival has no end, Brisbane’s Custard are travelling the country after delivering a comeback record in 2015 and releasing their latest album last year. They have claimed that these will be the last spate of shows for a while, so head down to Badlands Bar on Saturday night to see them alongside The Community Chest and Sliem Fox.

5. Local launches

Launches this week come from Last Lions (pictured) at YMCA HQ (a great all ages one), Last Quokka at The Bird, Proto|Code at The Sewing Room and Grenan Dawley at The BirdSupporting our blossoming local scene is just as important as heading out to the big headliners, so make sure you catch one (or all!) of these in the coming days.
