CATE LE BON Rosie reward

Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon has announced she will be playing at Rosemount Hotel on Monday, December 9. The performance is part of a national run of sideshows coinciding with her appearance at Meredith Music Festival in Victoria as she heads down under in support of ripping fifth album Reward.

In writing Reward, Le Bon spent a year living solitarily in the Lake District in North West England, painstakingly learning to make solid wood tables, stools and chairs from scratch. By night she looked to a second-hand Meers, the first piano she had ever owned, for company, resulting in her most profound and personal work yet.

In June we described Reward as Le Bon’s “strongest set of tunes to date” in a glowing 8.5/10 album review, saying “The album is a welcome shift, with songs that are still undeniably Le Bon, but more comfortable than ever.” We also praised Le Bon as a “musical iconoclast,” with the ability to “attack the standards of pop, rock and folk with her own inimitable take on each.”

The new album and tour follow on from Le Bon’s 2016 breakout album Crab Day, time spent on production work, such as the recent Deerhunter album Why Hasn’t Everything Already Disappeared? in January this year and DRINKS, the side-project which Le Bon co-parents with Tim Presley of White Fence.

Reward is out now. Cate Le Bon plays Rosemount Hotel on Monday, December 9. Tickets are on sale from Cool Perth Nights.
