Legendary guitarist, Joe Satriani, is set to release his 15th solo album, Shockwave Supernova, on Friday, July 24. Regarded as the world’s most commercially successful solo guitarist, Satriani regularly refers to himself as personally dedicating his music to idol, Jimi Hendrix.
Shockwave Supernova sees Satriani once again joining forces with co-producer/engineer, John Cuniberti. With a history dating back to the guitar legend’s 1986 debut album, Not Of This Earth and the breakthrough follow-up, Surfing With The Alien, which went platinum.
During the final show of his most recent tour, in a display of showmanship Satriani found himself playing his guitar an awful lot with his teeth. He had an epiphany, which he used as the springboard for Shockwave Supernova – displaying his alter ego, separating himself from a normally shy and reserved guitarist.
