SUMMARY:The Community Chest "(it's so) Funny (now)" w/ Deep Beep\, Pastel Suburbs and Macho Men
DESCRIPTION:The Community ChestDeep BeepPastel SuburbsMacho Men \nIt’s so) Funny (now) is the first single from a forthcoming mini album by The Community Chest. Despite the upbeat title and catchy\, repetitive melody\, the song hints at loss and regret whilst trying to make light of it retrospectively. Sparce\, yet carefully layered\, “Funny” changes tone from ethereal synth pads and crystal guitar to a jolting middle section of mouth percussion and a broken Korg M700 synth from 1974 to a delicious distorted kraut rock finale – the school gates opening for summer break. \n“Some time ago I took out my old 4-track recorder that all the early Turnstyle stuff was recorded on and set it up in the loungeroom with my guitar plugged straight into it. I sat watching movies with the sound down and just came up with musical sketches and overdubbed over those. I came up with quote a few songs that way. One of them was the tune that become “Funny”. It was originally called Park Slope as a homage to David Berman but I changed it once the lyrics took shape. As usual we recorded the song in loopy layers until we arrived at the main sections. I love how it’s the same thing over and over but just framed differently.” – Adem K

SUMMARY:Montaigne Comes To Perth - Glorious Heights 10th Anniversary Tour 2026
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the 10th anniversary of their award-winning debut album Glorious Heights\, Montaigne is heading out on national tour to sing\, dance\, laugh and cry with fans old and new! Experience the album played in full with a sprinkling of beloved tunes from other eras when they hit the road in August 2026. \nThis historic celebration comes off the back of a motley crew of career successes\, including: releasing their first independent and self-produced album it’s hard to be a fish in 2025\, amassing over 64 million streams on their song ‘Red Flags’ with Tom Cardy\, a 31 date tour of Europe and the UK alongside Eurovision collaborator Dadi Freyr\, and earning a Grammy nomination for their collaboration with acclaimed indie composer Austin Wintory. \nGrounded as a person but elevated as a performer\, Montaigne is one of those rare artists whose talent and skill on stage and off is rivalled by their ability to connect authentically with their audience\, finding joy\, humour\, and catharsis in every performance. \nExpect powerhouse vocals\, theatrical movement inspired by friend and collaborator David Byrne\, a strong sense of community\, and a warm\, inclusive space for all. SUMMARY:The Beaufort Street Blues Band
DESCRIPTION:The crossroads has been lore for generations of blues musicians – that tumultuous junction between one’s soul and their artform. In the same manner\, the convergence of blues and jazz invokes a sense of danger\, thick in the night air. For those daring to join the initiated\, Beaufort Street crosses over into Beale as incisive jazz piano and soulful B3 intersects six-string twang and deep\, driving shuffles. \nAn old guitar is tuned up. Hands exchange a binding shake. Another soul is claimed for the blues. \nThe Beaufort Street Blues Band are:Trevor Jalla – guitar\, vocalsLouis Rebeiro – hammond organ\, vocalsHarry Mitchell – pianoJames Marelich – drums

Since then\, they’ve released two new EPs\, Bleeding Star and Burning Chrome\, and are primed and ready to bring their expansive and cinematic take on heavy music back to Aussie stages. Their sound lives at the meeting point between crushing and compelling\, drawing inspiration from synthwave and cyberpunk\, bending the boundaries of modern heavy music.

An all-gay tribute to rock’s most aggressively heterosexual band shouldn’t work – until you hear it\, see it\, and realize it’s exactly what the rock world needed. GAYC/DC isn’t just playing AC/DC covers with a wink; they’re delivering what Louder calls “spot on” musicianship while transforming classics like “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” into “Dirty Dudes (Done Dirt Cheap)” with such authenticity that Music Feeds declares they turn “skeptics into fans.” \nFounded by Christopher Freeman (bassist for queercore legends Pansy Division) and drummer Brian Welch\, GAYC/DC has earned something rare in tribute band territory: genuine respect from the artists they honor. When the band released their audacious “Gay Boy Boogie” video – a homoerotic reimagining of AC/DC’s “Bad Boy Boogie” shot as a loving homage to Twisted Sister’s “We’re Not Gonna Take It” – Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider himself gave his seal of approval: “I think this is great!” \nThat endorsement matters. As Welch notes\, “We love Twisted Sister who took rock and drag further than anybody at the time. This is our homage and ‘thank you’ for giving us as young gay kids the opportunity to see fully grown men in drag every day on MTV decades before RuPaul’s Drag Race was a thing.” \nWhile their glitter-drenched\, boa-adorned presentation might read as camp\, make no mistake: Broadway Rock emphasizes that “while the band and their presentation may be campy\, their musicianship is pure\, unadulterated rock.” Classic Rock Magazine captured it perfectly: “GayC/DC have taken the songs of perhaps the globe’s most heterosexual band and turned them into something altogether more fabulous.” \nThe band’s recent “Gay Boy Boogie” video – premiered by American Songwriter and featuring cameos from rock luminaries including Johnny Martin (L.A. Guns)\, John Bush (Armored Saint\, ex-Anthrax)\, and dUg Pinnick (King’s X) in their previous “Highway to Hell” video – demonstrates how seriously the rock community takes GAYC/DC’s mission. This isn’t novelty; it’s reclamation. \nFor their first Australian tour\, GAYC/DC – rounded out by bassist Glen Pavan\, guitarist Patrick Goodwin\, and lead guitarist Steve McKnight – will bring their explosive live show to six cities across the country this February. \n𝗔𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗦 \n• Thursday\, February 19 – Brisbane\, The Brightside•Friday\, February 20 – Gold Coast\, Mo’s Desert Clubhouse•Saturday\, February 21 – Melbourne\, Stay Gold•Wednesday\, February 25 – Adelaide\, Lion Arts Factory•Thursday\, February 26 – Perth\, Milkbar•Friday\, February 27 –Sydney\, Mary’s Underground

SUMMARY:NOIR (SECOND SHOW ADDED) Paul Grabowsky & Michelle Nicolle (Mel)
DESCRIPTION:First show SOLD OUT. Second show just added! \n3pm doors | 4pm showTickets: https://www.ellingtonjazz.com.au/tc-events/noirbrpaul-grabowsky-michelle-nicolle-mel/ \nThe wait is over. NOIR is finally coming to WA 🖤 \nOne of Australia’s most highly anticipated jazz collaborations arrives at The Ellington this August. \n“Arguably the two finest exponents in Australian jazz of their respective artistries\, pianism and vocalising\, Noir is like a meeting at the summit. Think of the two masterly albums recorded by Bill Evans and Tony Bennett in the 1970s. Grabowsky and Nicolle are in that league. Noir is a statement for the ages. It’s that’s good.” ★★★★★ The Weekend Australian 2025 \nNOIR is a stunning collection of standards and originals exploring melancholy\, heartbreak and love’s bitter ironies\, revealing sentiment rather than sentimentality\, beauty in deepest shadow\, empathy and calm. \nProfessor Paul Grabowsky: AO is a pianist composer\, arranger and conductor with a career spanning nearly 50 years. He is considered one of Australia’s most significant musicians. He has recorded over 40 albums and has won 8 ARIA Awards\, as well as numerous APRA awards\, 2 Helpmann Awards and a Deadly Award. He is the founder of the Australian Art Orchestra which he led for 19 years. He directed the Queensland Music Festival in 2007 and Adelaide Festival of Arts in 2010 & 2012. He is currently ED of Monash University Performing Arts Centres. \nMichelle Nicolle:hailed as Australia’s preeminent female jazz singer\, is a living embodiment of artistry and elegance in the jazz world. An internationally touring artist for over 26 years she has performed throughout Europe and Asia with highlights including the North Sea Jazz Festival\, Tokyo Jazz Festival\, the Prague Jazz Festival and USA venues The Blue Building\, (NYC)\, JazzVox (Seattle)\, Jazz Lounge Live (San Diego)\, Kulak’s Woodshed (LA)\, The Black Cat (San Francisco).
