Perth sold out five days ahead of the performance. Both Singapore nights sold out. Beijing and Shanghai were full houses. The ensemble performed at some of Asia’s most iconic venues – Blue Note Beijing\, JZ Club Shanghai\, Salon No.10 Hong Kong and Blu Jaz Singapore – and was immediately invited to return to the JZ Festival in Shanghai\, one of Asia’s most prominent jazz events. A live recording made during the tour is being prepared for release as an album later this year. \nThe Awakenings Ensemble brings together five exceptional musicians from Australia\, Iran and Lebanon\, performing original music that weaves Persian and Middle Eastern instruments – ney\, daff\, oud – with contemporary jazz. DESCRIPTION:Tubular Bells in Concert heads to Australia in June 2026 as part of the 50th Anniversary World Tour celebration. \nMike Oldfield’s iconic\, seminal work will be performed by an expansive live group\, led and arranged by Mike Oldfield’s long-term collaborator\, Robin A Smith.  \nThe concert will see Tubular Bells performed in full\, plus extended sections of Tubular Bells ll and lll\, as well as the worldwide hit single Moonlight Shadow. \nOne of the most pioneering and influential musicians of all time\, Mike Oldfield’s visionary Tubular Bells series spans three albums and 27 years\, with Tubular Bells created in 1971 and released in 1973\, Tubular Bells II released in 1992 (the filming of the premier from Edinburgh Castle is one of the most viewed and streamed musical events ever)\, and Tubular Bells III released in 1998 (with the excerpt of Far Above The Clouds featured in the 2012 London Olympic Opening Ceremony). With each album\, Oldfield expands on the incredible themes and theatrical variations he first composed at 17 years old\, continually innovating and pushing boundaries. \nOldfield recorded and played almost all of the instruments on the original album\, which gained further worldwide notoriety when the opening theme was used for the soundtrack of The Exorcist. The album went on to become the highest selling instrumental album of all time. \nRobin A Smith has worked with Mike Oldfield for over 25 years\, collaborating on Tubular Bells 2 and 3 including live performances at Edinburgh Castle\, Horseguards Parade in London\, The Millennium Bell in Berlin\, and the 2012 London Olympics Opening Ceremony.  \nRobin A.
