HEATHCOTE BLUE
Born in the bedroom of Boorloo-based songwriter Lyndon Blue as an unadorned folk project channelling the likes of Nick Drake and Gillian Welch, Heathcote Blue has unfurled with time – doubling in size with the inclusion of Maddy Blue (Gap Year) before expanding to a rolling collective of alt-country troubadours including Daniel Harrison (Gap Year, Outdoor Living), Saskia Willinge (Cryptids) and Jameson Feakes (Didion’s Bible, Ghost Gum Reverb). Their songs are evocative, playful, sad and spiriting – sometimes all at once.
“[Heathcote Blue’s] latest album, While Away, mirrors the band’s affable and organic expansion, layering rotoscopic folk vignettes of modern West Australian pastoralism under unhurried and intimate lyrics.” – RTRFM
NIKA MO
Nika Mo, an art-folk project by West Australian composer Annika Moses, has to be heard to be fully understood. A prolific writer and performer; Moses’ work has been described as ‘boundlessly creative, vividly imagined, and richly detailed,’ (Daniel Morey, Isolated Nation). A narrative unfolds beneath its many textures to reveal an inward thought; a sense of nostalgia and deep connectedness. A tongue-in-cheek sensibility as well as her creative command of imagery bring levity to the most challenging of observations while still delivering a profound sense of authenticity across Moses’ body of work.
