In her Perth International Jazz Festival debut, Jazzmeia Horn will showcase the voice and presence that has entranced the world for over a decade. Her performance will coincide with the release of her third album, Messages (Empress Legacy Records).
The three-time Grammy-nominated artist (including with jazz ensemble Dear Love) has toured extensively since the release of her first album, 2017’s A Social Call, developing a fearless approach to performing and improvisation. She might elicit comparisons to jazz greats including Betty Carter, Sarah Vaughan and Nancy Wilson, but she is already a musical force of her own making.
Horn performs a mix of jazz standards and original compositions that showcase her daring musicality and emotional power. For this performance, Horn will be accompanied by regular collaborator Victor Gould (piano) along with Australian players Sam Anning (bass) and Ben Vanderwal (drums). Jazzmeia Horn is not to be missed.
