WAR HORSE Galloping to Crown Theatre

The National Theatre of Great Britain’s
internationally-acclaimed production of War Horse is coming to Perth’s Crown Theatre from Tuesday, March 24 with a 24 show run direct from a sell-out season in London.

A remarkable tale of courage, loyalty, and friendship, War Horse tells the story of a young boy called Albert and his horse, Joey. At the outbreak of World War One Joey is sold to the cavalry and shipped from England to France.  He is soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. But Albert cannot forget Joey and, still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.

This powerfully moving and imaginative drama is a show of phenomenal inventiveness, filled with stirring music and featuring groundbreaking puppetry by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company which brings breathing, galloping horses to life on stage.

Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, War Horse features a 34-strong cast and more than 20 puppets. It is the most successful play in the National Theatre’s history, has won more than 25 international awards, and has now been seen by over eight million people worldwide in 98 cities across 12 countries.

The National Theatre of Great Britain’s War Horse is coming to Crown Theatre from Tuesday, March 24 to Sunday, April 12. Tickets from warhorseonstage.com.au.
