WA NAIDOC MUSIC AWARDS 2019 Nominees and finalists revealed

The annual WA NAIDOC Music Awards Ceremony will debut at Perth’s new Fremantle music venue Freo.Social, on Friday, September 6.

Leading the nominations this year with four apiece are Karrajarri man John Bennett (Best Song, Best Album, Best Vocalist, and Best Male Artist) and Nyiyaparli man Bradley Hall (pictured above) (Best Song, Best Male Artist, Best Music Video, Best Band/Group). Each are formidable songwriters in their own right and capture the essence of the irrespective regions (Bennett–Kimberley, and Hall–Pilbara) in their relatable and emotive lyricism. Flewnt and Jamahl Ryder follow up with three award nominations each, two nominations apiece going to Indigo-Ellis, JoKeria, MissGenius, Theona Councillor, and Zero Emcee.

Joining the already stellar line up of performances to take place at the ceremony, from alt-rockers The Struggling Kings and Hip-Hop MC Flewnt, will be winner of the 2018 Undiscovered Award Cameron Wilkes, this year’s two-time nominee and up-and-commer Indigo-Ellis and fellow nominee, Natasha Eldridge. Also, singer-songwriter, top didgeridoo player and absolute local legend Phil Walley-Stack will be performing and heading up the evening as the NAIDOC Music night emcee.
