EVENT GUIDE TOP 5 What’s on this week?

You would assume it’d be hard to follow in the footsteps of¬†Kendrick Lamar‘s show-stopping performance on Tuesday night, but that certainly isn’t the case. Here are our top picks for the week of¬†Thursday, July¬†12 to¬†Thursday, July 19.

1.Revelation Perth International Film Festival

Rev film fest continues in style at Luna and participating cinemas until next Wednesday, July 18, giving you the opportunity to catch the edgiest and best independent and art house cinema for the year. And aside from the Amyl shows, check out other gems as part of the Revelation Music Days showcases including Calmly (pictured above), Telete, Shoeb Ahmad and Ryan Beno at the Rosemount tonight, and Pat Chow, Jamilla, Terrible Signal and Mal De Mer at Mojos Bar on Sunday.

2. Amyl & the Sniffers & Rackett

With the most authentic 70s vibe we’ve seen outside of the decade itself, punk rockers¬†Amy & The Sniffers (pictured) are playing two shows this weekend as part of Revelation Music Days for Rev Film Fest, alongside Sydney femme-punk-psych-rockers Rackett. Catch them on Friday at¬†Mojos Bar¬†with New Talk¬†and¬†Tape/Off, and on Saturday at the¬†Rosemount¬†with FOAM¬†and¬†Hussy.

3. PNAU

Aussie electronic pros¬†PNAU¬†will be making their way down to¬†Metropolis Fremantle¬†on Saturday night as part of celebrations for their latest album,¬†Changa. With old classics such as¬†Wild Strawberries¬†and¬†Baby, as well as new hit¬†Chameleon, there’s bound to be something for everyone at this show.

4. Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite

After releasing No Mercy in This Land as a duo, Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite have hit the roads and will be making a stop at Perth Concert Hall on Monday, July 16. Both legends in their own right, this is set to be a perfect start to your week.

5. Local launches

This weekend, the¬†Indi Bar is putting on classic rock ladies¬†Legs Electric‘s EP launch, supported by¬†Foxton Kings,¬†The Ivory Lies¬†and¬†Joshua Garner.¬†Leopard Lake’s much anticipated launch will also be going down at¬†The Bird, alongside the likes of¬†Benjamin Witt,¬†Sean O’Neill¬†and¬†Kopano.¬†
