Punters who bought tickets to Splendour In The Grass this morning were left shocked after being slugged thousands in credit card fees.

Tickets went on sale at 9AM AEST and when festival-goers purchased a ticket for half price, additional fees of up to $4000 were charged.

Shannon Wylie, of Bibra Lake, was up at 6.45am to bag a ticket to the now sold-out festival.

“At 6.50am the [Moshtix] page reloaded and it said that since there were so many people online, I would have to wait in the ‘Green Room’,” she said.

“After 40 minutes it redirected me back to buy tickets.

“I purchased them on my credit card and because I was in a rush I didn’t realise I was charged a $1000 credit card fee.

“I just wanted a ticket. I should have fucking looked, I feel like an idiot.”

Moshtix released a statement saying that the incident was due to an isolated technical issue and that personal credit card information was not “compromised”.

“During today’s Splendour in The Grass on-sale, due to technical issues some customers were erroneously offered reduced priced tickets and charged incorrect credit card fees,” the statement read.

“All of these affected orders will be cancelled today, and customers contacted to allow them to purchase at the correct prices.”
