The Tribe (La Tribu)

The Spanish Film Festival will be taking place, once again, at Cinema Paradiso from  Thursday, April 26 until Wednesday, May 16. 

The festival is set to open with The Tribe (La Tribu), with highlights including Guillermo del Toro’s classic Pan’s Labyrinth and huge 2018 hit No Filter

The Reel Español spotlight will celebrate the best new Spanish cinema and will feature Loving Pablo, The Open Door, Gold and Dying (Morir). There will also be comedies, Lord, Give Me Patience (Señor, Dame Paciencia), Abracadabra, It’s For Your Own Good (Es Por Tu Bien) and Operation Goldenshell (Operación Concha). 

Other favourites in the program include Mist & The Maiden (La Niebla y la Doncella), The Chess Player (El Jugador de Ajedrez), The Solar System (El Sistema Solar) and Re-Evolution.

The Reel Directoras sidebar showcases the innovative work being produced by the next generation of Spain’s female directors, and will feature Carla Simón’s Summer 1993, as well as The Bastard’s Fig Tree, The Open Door and Elena Martín’s Júlia Is.

There will also be a tribute to Bigas Lunas, which includes the WA premiere of the posthumous documentary Bigas x Bigas. 

Two kid-friendly films will also be featured, including the Pixar Academy Award winner Coco and Tad The Lost Explorer And The Secret Of King Midas.
