PERTH INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL All that jazz


The Perth International Jazz Festival
has come around once again, with 60 local, national and international acts performing at various venues throughout Perth. The three day festival begins Friday, November 8 and will run until Sunday, November 10.

Currently in its seventh year, Perth International Jazz Festival brings together jazz musicians from all over the world; culminating in a variety of events that showcase the various facets of jazz music. Numerous international acts will be heading our way, including American jazz singer Veronica Swift (pictured), Japanese jazz pianist Fumio Itabashi and saxophonist Akane Ezawa, and Brazilian trio Meretrio. The list of national acts comprises of trumpeter, singer and composer Roscoe James Irwin (The Cat Empire), Spirograph Studies, Sam Anning, trio Berardi/Foran/Karlen, WAAPA graduate and pianist Tal Cohen, and pianist and composer Ben Winkelman.

The State Theatre Centre of WA will be acting as the festival hub, with a number of other Northbridge venues being within convenient walking distance. Venues that events will be taken over include the State Theatre Courtyard, Heath Ledger Theatre, The Bird, The Ellington Jazz Club and Downstairs at the Maj. There will also be free to attend events at the Perth Cultural Centre’s Wetlands Stage, The Rechabite and Birdwood Square.

Perth International Jazz Festival kicks off Friday, November 8 and will run through ’til Sunday, November 10. Tickets are available from State Theatre Centre of WA.
