Mixing international funny men and women with a carefully curated selection of local and national acts, the Perth Comedy Festival promises to deliver barrels of laughs with shows across multiple venues at the State Theatre Centre of WA in Northbridge and Subiaco’s Regal Theatre from 26 April – 21 May 2017.
The huge line-up includes big name internationals including Eric Andre (USA) and Phill Jupitus (UK), who will perform alongside Aussie superstars such as Wil Anderson, Effie and Steve Hughes.
The Festival’s first release of shows included big names such as Jason Byrne (IRE), Stephen K Amos (UK), David O’Doherty (IRE), Daniel Sloss (SCO), Urzila Carlson (NZ/RSA), Des Bishop (IRE/USA), Paul Foot (UK), Sarah Callaghan (UK), Larry Dean (SCO) and Anne Klinge (GER), alongside Triple J’s Matt Okine and other Aussie’s including Nick Cody, Luke Heggie, Aunty Donna and Becky Lucas.
Joining the already impressive line-up are award-winning international festival favourites Craig Hill (SCO), DeAnne Smith (CAN), Dane Baptiste (UK) and Aussie’s Michael Workman, Neal Portenza and Rhys Nicholson.
The festival also showcases a bunch of cult YouTube stars including; Superwog, Frenchy, Alex Williamson and Aunty Donna, alongside Aussie TV favourites such as Doug Anthony Allstars, Heath Franklin’s Chopper, Tommy Little, Sammy J and Ivan Aristeguieta (VEN); plus delivers a sprinkling of variety fun with the addition of Peter and Bambi Heaven – a master illusionist ex La-Soiree and a former cage dancer; Miss Cage Dance Universe Australia to be exact.
With two Festival Gala events scheduled for Wednesday 3 May and Wednesday 10 May; this year’s Festival is sure to create a hive of explosive activity at the Regal Theatre as well as at the State Theatre Centre of WA; where indoor and outdoor spaces will be used to transform the venue into a 4-week jam-packed comedy hub.
