NEXT GEN SHORT FILM FESTIVAL The long and the short of it

Next Gen Short Film Festival is back at The Backlot Perth this month as part of Fringe World with a People’s Choice Screening on Thursday, February 8 and a People’s Choice Screening + Awards Ceremony on Sunday, February 11. This award-winning festival celebrates and supports short films made by Western Australian emerging filmmakers.

The Next Gen Short Film Festival judges Matthew Eeles from Cinema Australia, Suzanne Worner from Revelation Film Festival and casting director/acting coach Annie Murtagh-Monks had a tough choice trying to nominate the high calibre of films entered this year for the 10 awards offered (including Best Film). From these nominations, nine amazing short films were selected to be screened at the festival.

Having been lucky enough to previously catch the rock and roll comedy Carnal Privilege, the noir drama Dark Horses, and the sci-fi dramedy You, Me and Karen, we can say with some confidence that this program is shaping up to have a very strong field of contenders.
