LIVE IN THE AMPHITHEATRE Canning, city of funk

The City of Canning is ready to celebrate local music once again, taking to the Civic Park Stage and Amphitheatre to put on their all-ages, free Live at the Amphitheatre series. Your Saturday evenings are set this November, with Saturday, November 9, Saturday, November 16 and Saturday, November 23 poised to showcase a range of established and up-and-coming Perth musical talent. Grab your family and friends, pack a picnic and prepare to be entertained.

The first event, taking place on November 9, will feature the musical styling of the Junkadelic Brass Band (pictured above). Known for their groovy street rhythms and New Orleans-style jazz, the six-piece brass plus percussion outfit have been a welcome presence on the Perth scene for quite some time. We’ve seen the funky percussion band performing at local arts festivals, fairs, parties, climate change protests and around the nation. The night will begin with a celebration of the Noongar seasons with respected traditional custodian, Dr Richard Walley

Following on from that event, the Homegrown Concert special, which takes place on November 16, will showcase four emerging groups of Perth musicians. Then the Global Arts Concert, taking place on November 23, is set to feature music from around the world. Demonstrating the diverse and multicultural community of Canning, the concert aims to display the beauty of music that has come to Australia – an opportunity to engage with a fun-loving community.

Live at the Amphitheatre hits The Civic Park Stage and Amphitheatre on Saturday, November 9, Saturday, November 16 and Saturday, November 23. More information is available on the City of Canning website.
