Triple J have announced the nominees for their annual J Awards which celebrate Australian music, including Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Unearthed Artist of the Year and the Double J Artist of the Year.
The most anticipated category, the Album of the Year Award, will be hotly contended between ten Australian albums, and congratulations to Perth’s own Methyl Ethel, the only WA nomination.
The nominees for the Album of the Year J Award are A.B. Original for Reclaim Australia, Alex Lahey for her recently released I Love You Like A Brother, Ali Barter for A Suitable Girl, Gang of Youths for their 16 track sophomore Go Farther In Lightness, Gordi for Reservoir, Meg Mac for her debut Low Blows, The Smith Street Band for More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me, Thundamentals for Everyone We Know, Vera Blue for Perennial and Methyls for their amazing second album Everything Is Forgotten.
Other WA acts to receive nominations include Stella Donnelly for Unearthed Artist of the Year, and a second nod to Methyl Ethel and their music video for single Ubu.
J Award Winners will be announced on Thursday, November 23.
