FRIDAY 3/9

AMBAR MARTEN HØRGER Recognised for his banging tech, electro and broken beats production, Marten Hørger returns to Perth after a smashing performance at last year’s Major Break.  Having previously been a member of the massive breakbeat duo Boogie Army, Hørger is now working with the illustrious Leeroy Thornhill (formerly of the Prodigy) in the electro/tech partnership known as Smash Hifi.  Hørger  is joined on the night by Sangers & Ra, a premier breakbeat DJ/production duo out of Brisbane. The cornerstone of the recent east coast breakbeat revival in Australia, the pair are residents of Queensland’s #1 broken beat night, Breaks & Enter.  Plus Philly Blunt, Mono Lisa, Ian G and Mr Ed. Tickets from Boomtick.com.au.

NORFOLK BASEMENT MAYBE DANCING WILL HELP It’s time for the third installment of Maybe Dancing Will Help.  This edition features the jazz-tastic stylings of Bastian’s Happy Flight, better known to some as FKN MIDAS, with help from his good friend Jack Doepel (Boom! Bap! Pow!) on the saxophone. Midas is currently working on expanding his own productions into a full live-band setup, but to give a taste of what to expect he will be combining forces with Doepel to get some jazz all up  in your sax. Anyone who has seen these two spinning their magic together will know it’s a guaranteed good time disco-boogie-funk extravaganza not to be missed. Support on the night comes from some of the sharpest DJs in the disco toolbox, with Perthquake proud to announce Sleepyhead and Friend down for their first ever MDWH, and of course your hosts for the evening, Bouncy Castles. Doors open 8pm.

RISE RICHARD DURAND First tipped by Tiësto, back in 2006, as an artist ready to break, Richard Durand has spent the last four years running on trance music’s fast-track. From the early days of his Lethal Industry and Flight 643 rebuilds, he has moved to become one of the most consistently dependable producers on the scene; crafting and shaping his own model sound and style. Parallel to that, his spinning career has graduated from that of ‘next big thing’ to that of headlining, all-club-conquering DJ. Catch Durand tonight at Rise. Doors open 10pm.
