IN THE PINES Third time lucky

LoveJunkies

In The Pines just got bigger – AGAIN – with the final lineup announcement for 2017 featuring APRICOT RAIL, THE LOVE JUNKIES, THE PICTURE GARDENS, POW! NEGRO, FORSTORA and SOLAR BARGE BIG BAND.

Last appearing at In the Pines in 2012, beloved post rock sextet APRICOT RAIL are once again bringing their charming instrumentals back to Somerville. After a long, quiet few years, Apricot Rail burst back onto the scene a couple of months ago with the single Scarecrow. This, along with their charming back catalogue will undoubtedly soar all the way to the top of the pines.

THE LOVE JUNKIES are well and truly cemented as a Perth institution and also have a cracking new single called Past Intense. They’re now gaining international repute, with their high energy live shows and high quality songwriting – last year they toured Stateside, playing at renowned festival SXSW. Playing Pines for the first time as a four-piece, The Love Junkies never fail to completely own a crowd.

Also joining the lineup is THE PICTURE GARDENS, an Indigenous indie rock band who have connections with the northern part of the Goldfields and the Murchison. The band recently recorded their highly infectious single ‘Hurt, Heal, Live’ as part of WAM’s Sounds Of The Goldfields project where they worked together with renowned Perth producer Matt Gio.

After winning last year’s Big Splash Competition, picking up two WAM awards, plus a slew of huge support gigs, Fremantle hip-hop juggernaut POW! NEGRO are continuing their impressive year with a set on the Pines stage. Their fusion of slick guitars, smooth sax and fluid rhymes makes for a dynamic, totally unmissable show.

One of the many projects from prolific Perth muso Lyndon Blue, SOLAR BARGE BIG BAND will feature plenty of special guests for this very special occasion. They’re set to transform the Somerville Auditorium into a majestic, mythical, sonically and visually engaging experience for In The Pines.

Holding down on the heavy end of the line-up, FÖRSTÖRA will be bringing the noise to In The Pines. Meaning “Destroy” in Swedish, Forstora will undoubtedly deliver a crushing set to juxtapose the otherwise peaceful surrounds of Somerville Auditorium.

So… drum roll… the complete line up now looks like this! Holy wow!
