IN THE PINES Second announcement

Dreamrimmy

It’s out! The second round of bands playing RTRFM’s In The Pines 2017 has been announced and it’s huge.

Bells Rapids, Craig Hallsworth, Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group, Doctopus, Dream Rimmy (pictured), Institut Polaire and Rag N’ Bone are the second addition to the already announced, Childsaint, Hideous Sun Demon, Jebediah, Jeff’s Dead, Phil Walley-Stack, Sodastream and Tangled Thoughts of Leaving that will be performing on Sunday, April 30 at UWA’s Somerville Auditorium.

After just a few months on the scene, BELLS RAPIDS are set to take to the Pines stage, showcasing their sweet, moody voices, sublime songwriting and a wonderful ability to find melody within their songs.

With 30 years of experience behind him, and a unique and fascinating approach to songwriting, CRAIG HALLSWORTH last year released his debut solo album What’s The Story With This Hole? Hallsworth’s musical roots place him in bands like The Slow Beings, Tangled Star and most famously, The Bamboos. He has put together a very special band for In The Pines 2017.

Award winning drummer and percussionist DANIEL SUSNJAR also joins the lineup. Having performed with legends like Chick Correa, Steve Miller and Grammy award winning trumpeter Brian Lynch, who also features on his new album Moth to a Flame, Susanjar’s AFRO-PERUVIAN JAZZ GROUP will bring a little jazz to the Pines, and their infectious grooves are set to fill the Somerville Auditorium.

A celebrated fixture in WA music for a few years now, Garage rock trio DOCTOPUS are playing Pines for the first time. Huge WA music fans, the lads from Doctous are happy to tick In The Pines off their bucket list of gigs.

Shoegaze faves DREAM RIMMY have had a big 2016, with a place in the Laneway Festival lineup, and multiple tracks in the top 10 songs played on RTRFM last year. This year they’re set to drop their highly anticipated second EP, as well as take their rightful place on the In The Pines stage.

After a six-year hiatus, indie pop seven piece INSTITUT POLAIRE are returning to play In The Pines. Having previously supported the likes of Camera Obscura, Architecture in Helsinki and Jens Lekman, it’s a real treat to have Institute Polaire back on stage in Perth, with members flying in from across Australia for the day.

Hot off the heels from their Unearthed slot at Falls Festival, and the release of their debut album A Handful of Ash, RAG N’ BONE are already an RTRFM favourite. Their instantly recognisable sound packs a punch, with a driving rhythm section, soaring guitar and Kiera Owen’s powerful vocals.

RTRFM is celebrating it’s 40th year broadcasting a since first hitting the airwaves in 1977.
