HUNTERS & COLLECTORS Announce Freo Prison show

Hunters & Collectors
have announced a special concert event in the courtyard of the historic Fremantle Prison on Friday, October 7.

The performance comes the night before Hunters & Collectors headline the sold-out Red Hot Summer event in the Swan Valley on Saturday, October 8. They will be joined on the evening by fellow Aussie rock royalty The Stems and Chris Cheney.

Hunters & Collectors’ self-titled debut studio album came out in 1982, featuring the popular track Talking To A Stranger, which was released as a 7″ single and reached #59 in Australia. Hunters & Collectors’ anthemic tracks such as Holy Grail, Throw Your Arms Around Me, and When The River Runs Dry have become iconic to Australian rock.

The Stems made their debut in 1984, becoming one of only a handful of bands to crack the local mainstream charts with a string of classic garage rock singles. Their debut album First Sight Violets Are Blue, released in 1987, received national and international acclaim, becoming one of the best-selling Australian albums of that year and was later named by Rolling Stone as one of the top 100 Australian releases of all time.

The group formally disbanded following their debut but reformed in 2003, continuing to make live appearances, including tours of both Australia and Europe until COVID forced them into a hiatus in 2020. That will finally come to an end with this show as the 2018 WAM Hall of Fame inductees perform their first Perth show since 2019 featuring original members Dom Mariani, Julian Matthews, and Dave ‘Huck’ Shaw, along with Even’s Ashley Naylor guesting on second guitar for the night.

Chris Cheney is well known as the frontman and guitar slinger of the iconic Australian punk rock band, The Living End. The Living End debuted their first album in 1994. Since then, Chris Cheney and his bandmates Scott Owen and Andy Strachan have notched up seven top-five albums, six ARIA Awards, and built a reputation as one of Australia’s hottest live bands. The appearance also follows the release of Cheney’s debut solo album, The Storm Before The Calm.

Hunters & Collectors, The Stems and Chris Cheney play Fremantle Prison on Friday, October 7, 2022. Tickets are on sale Thursday, July 7 from www.ticketmaster.com.au
