HEY HO DON’T GO Tommy Ramone Dead At 65

Tommy Ramone
Tommy Ramone

Marking the end of an era, Tommy Ramone, the last remaining original member of epochal punk band, The Ramones, has died as a result of bile duct cancer.

Born Erdelyi Tamas in Hungary in 1949, Ramone emigrated to New York City at an early age. Originally The Ramones’ manager, he assumed his place behind the drum kit – and the Ramone nom de guerre – when original stickman Joey became the lead singer. Staying with the band for four years, he played on their first three albums, Ramones, Leave Home and Rocket To Russia, as well as the live release It’s Alive. After leaving the group in 1978, continued to work in music as both a performer and producer, collaborating with the likes of The Replacements and Redd Kross.

Our thoughts go out to Ramone’s family and friends.
