FREO SOCIAL HALL Historic live music space to reopen in Fremantle

The historic Artillery Drill Hall in Fremantle is being revitalised into a multi-purpose entertainment space. After sitting vacant for several years since Fly By Night’s move onto High Street, all approvals are now in place and the venue is set to open as the Freo Social Hall, offering live music and events, local beers and wines, curated food trucks and a music festival vibe.

The Freo Social Hall will cater for 800 people with a main entertainment room, food and beverage areas and two alfresco spaces. It is anticipated to open late 2017 or early 2018.

Freo Social Hall and Sunset Events Director David Chitty said he was excited to bring the experience of a music festival to a venue for patrons to experience every day. “We are working closely with National Trust to pay homage to the beautiful building by maintaining its heritage features, while activating new spaces to expand the offering and create a truly unique experience.”

Building on the Drill Hall’s legacy of being a live music venue, national and international music acts will be a regular fixture with the opportunity for emerging local artists to support them. Local promoters, event producers and community groups will be welcome to book and use the space.

Freo Social Hall is anticipated to open late 2017 or early 2018.
