Fame the Musical, the epic dance musical that celebrates all things eighties, from neon lycra and pop hits to baggy sweats and hip hop, is storming into Perth this year. The international sensation shows at Crown Theatre from Saturday, April 16 to Sunday, April 24, 2022.
Based on the iconic Academy Award winning film, the hit television series and best-selling novel, Fame the Musical tells the story of the last class to graduate from New York’s prestigious School of Performing Arts. It takes the audience on a journey from the painstaking entrance auditions to graduation and highlights the highs and lows of this journey.
It’s a chance to meet, or get reacquainted with the show’s unforgettable characters including Carmen Diaz, Tyrone Jackson, Joe ‘Jose’ Vegas, Serena Katz, Nick Piazza, Mabel Washington, Iris Kelly, Grace ‘Lambchops’ Lamb, Schlomo Metzenbaum, Goodman ‘Goody’ King and their tutors, Miss Sherman, Mr Sheinkopf, Miss Bell and Mr Myers.
The music score includes Hard Work, Bring on Tomorrow, Dancin’ on the Sidewalk and of course, the signature tune, Fame.
The show is presented by HAMA, producers of Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid and The Wizard of Oz. Making her Perth directorial debut will be music theatre star Rachael Beck.
