FAIRBRIDGE FESTIVAL Director’s Picks

Feel The Manouche
Feel The Manouche

The beloved Fairbridge Festival rolls out in Pinjarra this Friday-Sunday, April 10-12. Festival Director, Rod Vervest, gives us his top picks from the huge line-up.

David Francey: song crafting of the highest order. Paired back, laid back storytelling from one of Canada’s finest.

Lucy Wise Trio: folk with a twist of pop and exquisite accompaniment from two of Australia’s finest acousticians.

Jessica Stuart: folk/jazz on Japanese koto with top shelf rhythm section. Funky, charismatic and edgy.

Bearded Gypsy Band: eclectic, original tunes fusing gypsy, rock, folk and jazz. Great live band.

The Crooked Fiddle Band: look out! Crooked, mashed up, ‘chainsaw folk’ with serious chops.

Ungus Ungus Ungus: carnival, party, hip hop, ballet… yes, ballet. This is an intense dance party on a psychedelic mission to the outer reaches.

Feel The Manouche: gypsy jazz from one of the best swing fiddlers around.

Santa Taranta: the band’s blurb says it all: ‘they will infect your blood and keep you dancing like a spider and weeping like a Madonna’.
