The Newport Hotel presents another edition of Classic Sets on Friday, 8 March, this time showcasing one of the world’s most iconic pop groups: Blondie.
Locals Blondie Explodes – a group of vastly different musicians united by their shared love of the group – will perform Blondie’s classic album Parallel Lines, as well as hits from across the band’s vast back catalogue. Expect to hear Heart of GlassCall Me11.59AtomicSunday GirlI Want That Man and more!
Flaxen-haired frontwoman Debbie Harry formed Blondie with guitarist Chris Stein in the late 70s. With roots in New York City’s punk rock scene, Blondie soon rose to mainstream success, bringing with them a raw energy and street-smart edge that separated them from the pack. Embracing disco, reggae and pop sounds, Blondie became one of the pioneering groups of the new wave era. Breathing catchy hooks into hit after hit, Harry led her band to become a world-class pop group with an unmistakable style.
Blondie’s music, which continues to influence decades of artists, remains as beloved today as it was back in the 70s and 80s.
Presale tickets are $17 plus booking fee, available now via oztix.com.au. This event is 18+.
