Here are our top picks for the week of Thursday, July 5 to Wedesday, July 11.

Kendrick Lamar

The 2018 Pulitzer Prize and 12-time GRAMMY Award winning rapper will hit Perth Arena on Tuesday, July 10. His fourth studio album Damn has him touring Oz sharing his most successful songs such as Humble which took out the #1 spot on Triple J’s Hottest 100. At publication, tickets were still available.

Revelation Perth International Film Festival

The Revelation Film Festival kicks off tonight with the opening night scheduled at Luna Leederville at 7pm. The Breaker Upperers will be the first of many international and local films to be showcased during the festival with a launch party scheduled at The Blue Flamingo tonight.

Hidden Treasures Fremantle Festival

Kicking off this Thursday, Hidden Treasures Fremantle Festival will be kicking off their winter music festival with a mix of ripe new bands, well-seasoned cult heroes, perfectly-curated venues, a musical tram and more. Every Thursday this July you can soak it up for just a $20 ticket. Yep, $20 will get you into all these venues for the one night so be sure to take advantage.

Ambar Closing Night – Old Schoolers Assemble

After 12 successful years as arguably Perth’s best nightclub, Ambar will be closing their doors and end an era for the Perth scene. Owner of the nightclub, Liam Mazzucchelli announced the news in June stating on Facebook, “Ambar has impacted on many lives over the past two decades. The fabric of the extremely tight-knit community has forged lifelong friendships. Careers have been launched. Ambar has hosted hundreds of national and international acts as well as winning dozens of awards.” From 10pm this Saturday to 6am the following morning, join Ambar for one last party.

Local Launches

The forecast is showing some huge launches this weekend across Perth. There will be a double album launch for good friends Michael Savage and Brendan Gaspari at The Aardvark (KKA the Oddfellow) this Friday, July 6 as they both release their third full-length solo album. It’ll be Wont Die Wondering from Savage and Good Morning Sir, How are you? from Gaspari with Leah Emily Grant supporting the gents. Over at the Rosemount on Saturday, July 7, Tangled Thoughts of Leaving (pictured) will be releasing their third album, No Tether with the support of a huge lineup of supporting musicians from Mt. Mountain, Skullcave and Yomi Ship.
